In June 2022, just a month after Nufan was founded, board members chose AFC Crewe as the club they’d like to take over. The rest, as they say, is history.


After agreeing a deal with former chairman Matty Quirke, AFC Crewe became 100% community owned with every single paying board member owning one equal share each in the club. That’s when the hard work began.


AFC Crewe finished bottom of the 14th level of English football in the 21/22 season. Some say you could have described us as the worst club in England with just one win all season. A major squad overhaul was needed for the club to challenge for a title in its second campaign in the Crewe & District League.


The board voted to allocate a significant budget to improving the playing squad and Manager/Chairman Matty got straight to work, bringing in 23 new players. Of which, the vast majority were of the quality truly needed to bring winning football to AFC Crewe.


Within just a week or two, the board, comprised of members from all over the world, also voted to purchase state of the art filming and streaming equipment from VEO so every single AFC Crewe game could be streamed online for fans to watch from wherever on planet Earth they support the club.


The Nufan board members began planning for every aspect of the new season, and we got off to a flying start and sitting top of the league and scoring goals for fun after just a few games. However, manager Matty Quirke decided to step aside to focus on his role as Co-Chairman, alongside the Nufan community’s elected Co-Chairman, Liam Bond. The board voted unanimously on appointing young, ambitious manager Billy Murphy as his successor, who had been assisting Matty up until his resignation and had a vast knowledge of the local grassroots football scene. It was a no brainer.


The newly assembled team got off to an unbeaten start in our league and cup campaigns in the 2022/2023 season. Despite the winning football, board members kept noticing something felt like it was missing and it later became apparent just after the Christmas break that the board would need to make yet another change in the dugout. Billy Murphy was relieved of his duties and none other than Premier League and Blackpool legend Gary Taylor-Fletcher was brought in to replace him.


Standards immediately rose and AFC Crewe went on to comfortably win the Crewe & District Premier League with an impressive 49 points, 12 clear of closest challengers Bollington Health & Leisure. In the background, club leadership had been working hard to get AFC Crewe inducted into the actual English Football League pyramid to build off the back of the club’s first ever title win.


After being rejected by the Cheshire FA, on what the board felt was a minor technicality, we were welcomed with open arms by the Staffordshire FA, and were immediately awarded a double promotion into Staffordshire County Senior Division 1. A hugely enjoyable and successful 2023/24 season saw AFC Crewe promoted as Champions to the Staffordshire County Premier Division, where the team will ply their trade in the 2024/25 season. The team also won the 2023/24 Crewe Cup, meaning that AFC Crewe were officially double winners for the first time in club history.


Despite numerous hurdles to overcome to get into the pyramid, the board managed to jump each and every one, including securing a partnership and ground-share with our neighbours at Alsager Town. The lads have played their home games at the amazing Wood Park Stadium in Alsager since the 23/24 season, which has allowed board members from near and far to watch their team play in a professional set-up and meet other board members and players and staff at a home hub.


Gary’s coaching career will have taken him to Bangor City, Llandudno, Nantwich Town, the King George’s playing field and now Wood Park in Alsager leading the mighty AFC Crewe into the football pyramid. He’s excited and inspired by the Nufan set-up, the thousands of board members who contribute to the club’s success and to be involved so early in the club’s unique and historic journey. The club has also managed to negotiate major sponsorship deals with Mystery Away Days, who have been the front of shirt sponsor both last season and this season. The kits are manufactured by Hope & Glory who we hope to have a long and prosperous partnership with, and were designed by a board member himself before being voted through as the kit design of choice by the wider community. The club has also made donations to local food banks.

Become the first player on Football Manager 2024 to manage AFC Crewe and win the English Premier League and become a board member at AFC Crewe IRL.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of entry submission (submission of the save for review).

Existing AFC Crewe board members are allowed to participate in this competition.

The winner must play the game, Football Manager 2024 (only), as it is, on PC, using the specified database extension which is the Database | E20 - England Level 13 database.

As the database isn’t accessible on all platforms, this competition is only valid to PC users (not PS / Netflix / Mobile or any other platforms or modes of play).

Game altering editors and shortcuts are of strictly prohibited usage in this competition. As such, the winner of the competition must not have used the data editor or in-game editor, or have simulated matches or time periods by going on holidays.

No deception of any kind. We all play it enough to spot any tricks!

The first player to make themselves known as a Premier League winner with AFC Crewe will need to save and share their playing file with the competition’s organizers, to fully verify that

No cheating or underhand tactics have taken place during the course of your save. The competition participant would also need to send proof of age to ensure they fall within the competition’s eligibility criteria.

If a competition participant is found to have breached the above rules or eligibility criteria, then their submission will be deemed invalid. As such, the participant will not be able to claim the competition prize. An explanation will be provided to the competition participant found in breach of the above rules or eligibility criteria, regarding the breach or breaches they have committed.

In the event of a possible competition winner found in breach of the above rules or eligibility criteria, the next eligible winner will be the next participant with the fastest submission time of the game save file, providing they have also abided by the rule and eligibility criteria above.

You will own 1 (one) share and become a lifetime NUFAN board member at AFC Crewe.

This share is the equivalent of a Silver level membership as shown on the NUFAN official 
Website on the 22nd of January 2024, usually £3.99 per month upon subscription. 

You will then be part of a boardroom including 1,000s of others, where you have the power and ability to identify opportunities, or address concerns, to the rest of the board. These are then assessed and considered by the rest of the board through civilized and constructive debates and conversations.

The board room is open for all to explore this club. You can get to know your fellow board members, get involved with various teams to help the day to day running of the club, be it an area you work and know professionally, or something you have an outside interest in and are keen to be part of and learn. There is no pressure to be involved, though. Watch and support from afar as we navigate non-league football and attempt to take both our Men’s and Women’s teams as far as we can.

This Silver tier membership allows you one vote in board member votes. You will receive an email notification of your share.

To activate your share, we will need your full name and contact email to set you up via Launchpass, our subscription service model. 

From here you can then join the Discord community and engage with all board members, if you choose to. 

If you are an existing Silver board member, we will set you up as a lifetime member.

If you are an existing Gold board member, your Gold membership will remain valid. We  will set you up as a lifetime Gold member.

If you are an existing NUFAN member, once your entry is reviewed, validated and declared as the winning one, we will contact you to inform you of your winning entry and discuss the delivery of your prize. We will cease taking membership payments. This will involve canceling any direct debits on your side to avoid future payments.
