Match Report: Lichfield City 1 v 1 AFC Crewe

Men's 1st Team

Goal: Archie Angles.

AFC Crewe finished the league season with one more final disappointing result, dropping two points late in the game to finish one apiece away to Lichfield.

After a goalless first half, the ball broke for Archie Angles to give us the lead, and when Joe Jones made what turned out to be the final big save of his AFC Crewe career, it seemed like we were going to finish a challenging season on a high. Alas, Lichfield had other ideas, and a goal with just one minute to go left us frustrated yet again at our inability to finish off games.

And so the 2024/25 season ends with AFC Crewe in 10th place, with a record of 12 wins, 9 draws and 11 losses across 32 games. With a top 5 finish needed to be considered for promotion, we were left 12 points adrift of that mark but having learned a huge amount about what it will take to be successful at this level.

Thank you to everyone that has come to watch the team play this season; the lads really appreciate the support, and those club members from further afield are greatly appreciative of all our club's volunteers to at games to make matches happen. Next season will undoubtedly be another big season for this team - we go again next season.
